And it's so easy when you're evil ...?

The thing about playing out your Dragon Age character the evil way is: it's not really fun, at least not for me. I thought it would be great to piss Alistair off, bully everyone around and generally be an asshole, but. It's just ... not.
For one thing, I am too much of a goody two-shoes, so pissed off characters make me nearly physically uncomfortable (yeah I know it's just a game, but - aaaah, I cannot bear it). Another thing is that I am a crazy perfectionist when it comes to computer games and character disapproval annoys the hell out of me because IT'S RUINING MY PERFECT GAMEPLAY with perfect results and each and every quest solved.
Besides, I feel like you're missing out on a lot of quests (ergo: experience points) and there's no real (evil) compensation for them. (Example: if you refuse to help out the people in Redcliffe, you'll miss out on an entire area with quests and battles.) MEH. Being evil isn't always that easy, it seems. Or is it just me?

Too tired to write a long comment to this entry, but I'd really like to discuss that topic via yahell with you if you like!

Don't worry, I don't like taking the evil rout either- I always feel really bad when I'm mean to characters xD

Although I gave my one character the 'cocky' voice, and he gave ME a lot of smack talk.

DA's PC voice options frequently make me think, 'dude shut up.'

I was fine with him for a bit, but I went into my iniventory to make a healing potion, and when I was done my character said:

'You think we wouldn't just be standing here doing nothing, but noooo'

I wish there was a 'smack your character' option at times...

I don't know ... I think I still like doing them, I just don't like the repercussions of them. Like, letting the little girl in Shale's town getting possessed? Fine. But getting -15 disapproval by Leliana? Not so much fun. D:

And I agree on the voices. They can be horrible (the German synchro of some is even worse!).

Yeah - I have yet to play an RPG where being evil is actually satisfying, beyond the 'oooh look at me, I can kill NPCs, I'm so hardcore' factor.

And being hated by Alistair is like being hated by a labrador puppy.

I did enjoy being as jerk-assy/morally ambiguous as I could get away with, though. The 'intimidate' options did save me a lot of hassle in the long run. And it was immensely gratifying to personally execute Loghain.

*laughs* Exactly. (Also, I really like this imagery.)

The first time I played, that's what I did and I guess it's the best way to get the best of both sides.

And it was immensely gratifying to personally execute Loghain.
The first time - yes, very much so. The second time (which was just yesterday) and after having read The Stolen Throne - not so much. I really wanted to let him live, because I felt so sorry for him, but since I wanted to play the Cousland/Alistar-kitsch!ending, I couldn't. *sighs* This game has hooked me way too much.

I can almost feel sorry for Loghain, but he crossed the moral event horizon for me when he sold the Alienage elves into slavery. I'll always like him as a character, but taking revenge is waaaay too much fun.
