Thing I've been meaning to write about

The thing is: despite the fact that I spend more time on Tumblr now than on any other platforms combined doesn't change the fact, that I kind of despise Tumblr. I mean, it's pretty pictures and squee and your occasional signal boost inbetween, but that's about all. What I really dislike is the lack of communication on there, and the little bit that's possible is so restricted that you kind of want to give up after a few exchanges (asks are practically just a question/answer thing and then you have to start anew, endlessly reblogging stuff and adding texts to it is the most annoying thing ever). I just miss commenting. And having long threads of coherent comments that you can re-read anytime you want. I just miss talking and getting to know people.

I don't get those posts saying "hey, we've never talked to each other, but since we follow each other I consider you my friend forever and ever"? In 1,5 years of Tumblr I've met one or two persons besides the people I already knew that I talked to more than once and got to know a little better. I consider them nice acquaintances that I'd like to keep in touch with, but that's about it. I've met more people on LJ in that time and I'm not even really active here anymore.

Another thing is: I'm not overly fond of LJ anymore either. There's just been so much weird shit and it's not like LJ seems to care about their userbase anymore (unless they're Russian). I don't want to support a site like that, but the few people I like to talk to are still on here. And even if most people do have a DW-account, no one seems to use it and everything is kind of frustrating. Because I want what I had on LJ but not on LJ, but DW's pretty much not alive and while all the good stuff is happening on Tumblr, I kind of hate that it's going on there. [/meaningless fandom problems]

Another thing I've been meaning to talk about: [profile] louphoenix and I have been to Fürth to see the German version of Next to Normal (Fast normal)! It was a great weekend and the Fürth Stadttheater is really the cutest theater ever.

Pia Douwes was a worthy Diana and Wolfgang Borchert did a good job as Dan, even though his voice sounded a bit too musical-ish, if that makes any sense? Sabrina Weckerlin as Natalie felt somehow weird, but that may be because she's got a much deeper voice than Jennifer Damiano, which gave a different feel to some of the songs. Also, she seemed a bit too old for the part: her acting felt a bit put-on, like she wasn't actually a troubled teenager but an adult trying to pretend to be a snotty teenager.

I was really positively surprised by the German Henry, though. His voice was perfect and his acting was flawless. And holy wow, Dirk Johnston as Gabe Goodman. He didn't play him as twisted as Aaron Tveit did, more like a careless child, and he didn't quite dance and move his hips like Aaron, but damn, those were some serious climbing skills on that pole. Sometimes it looked like he was standing in midair! Consider me very impressed.

Some of the lyrics were a bit awkward, but I guess you can never avoid that in German musical translations. All in all, it was a fantastic show and worth every Euro I paid for it. I'd go and see it again, if I could.
