Teen Wolf 2.01 - 2.02

Just a quick write down of thoughts, because apparently, watching Teen Wolf makes me talk about my feelings or something.

So can we please talk about how precious Derek is at trying to protect Scott and win him for his pack? That scene in the woods where Derek is holding Scott pressed up to him while they watch the Omega get killed? That made me start shipping them a little. Like, Derek actually kind of likes Scott and really just wants to form his own pack a new family and he's really doing his best (which isn't good enough). Meanwhile Scott has only eyes for Allison and doesn't want to have anything to do with Derek. I think those two could have so much more shipping potential (mentor/pupil dynamic? I thought that was popular!) if Scott would just get his head out of his ass and start being friendlier to Derek. Or, you know, at least talk to him. Since he's literally the only one who knows about werewolf stuff. I mean, Derek's being obviously awkward and socially inept, but he's trying to help Scott and it's the thought that counts.

So I was starting to ship Derek/Scott just a little and then Derek and Stiles in the car happened. I'm sorry, nothing will ever be as funny as those two in the same room. I laughed so hard, especially when Derek tried to charm that police woman. Also, I really like Derek's voice. A pity he talks so little.

I like it when Allison goes all Katniss. But then, that's because I think archery is sexy on anyone.

Lydia is fucking awesome. Period.

ETA: OMG ISAAC. There, let me bake you cookies, it's all going to be okay, baby.

Derek. DEREK. It's never good enough what he does, and he fucks up so many times, but yes, it's not because he isn't trying, it's just that while he knows at least a few things about werewolfs, he's no idea how to be an alpha. At all. But seriously, Scott could at least try to appreciate that Derek even cares and tries to talk to him when he's so obviously not good at interacting with, well, anyone.

It really annoys me how Scott keeps pushing Derek away, while Derek saves his ass time and time again. Maybe I'm overanalyzing here, or channeling my inner Tony Stark, but Derek - like you said - sucks badly at interacting, and it seems to me that this is his way of reaching out to someone. And really, it's not like Derek's very subtle or cunning, so Scott doesn't need to expect a hidden agenda behind Derek's actions. Derek just wants his own damn pack to survive.

I adore Lydia, she needs more screentime. *bows down with you* ;)

I might be overanalyzing, too, but yes, I agree. And I guess Derek hasn't been reaching out to anyone in quite some time, which doesn't exactly help.

Seriously, Derek can't do subtle, and even if Scott somehow hasn't realized that yet despite having, well, met him, there's still the fact that Derek's family got killed by someone he probably cared too much about for his own good and who happens to be related to Scott's girlfriend. If he doesn't want to trust him right away, fine, but maybe he should think about that for a moment (and how alarming it actually should be) before refusing to listen to Derek at all.
