A/N: Yes, that meme. This is an old, old post and by no means finished. Since I probably won't have the time nor the muse to do so and already put quite some thought into it I thought I could at least post what I have so far. :) It's a mafia prompt which (OMGYES) I cannot thankcaramelsilver enough for. Also, I shamelessly used this opportunity to pimp one of my favourite German actors and gave him a role. (In case he looks familiar to you: he played Wilhelm Wicki in Inglorious Basterds.)
Guns, Hats & Trenchcoats.
Themes: mafia, crime, satire
Synopsis: In a world that's dominated by men, Julia Black dares to take over the position of her dead husband and becomes the boss of one of the two biggest mafia families in the city. Corruption, smuggling and drugs are her everyday-life.
Notes: One of the distinct features of the show is its fashion. Despite being set in modern times, the show makes a point of dressing most of its actors in fashionable retro dresses and suits that strongly remind of the 20s and 30s. Especially both family bosses, Adrian and Julia, are prominent for wearing very 20s-/30s-looking clothing - Adrian's black hat and trenchcoat are rather infamous.
Opening theme: "The Undertaker (Renholder Mix)" by Puscifer
Ending theme: "Arsenal" by Kidneythieves (I couldn't find any link on Youtube, sorry. Meh.)
Fandom
There is a decent amount of genfic, darkfic and loads of angst in this fandom. Pairing-wise, fandom is filled with Julia/Adrian hate!sex, as well as with snarky Adrian/Michael slash and its femslash equivalents Julia/Sarah and Julia/Christine. Apart from that, basically any pairing can be found. Some people even ship the Anderson brothers, even though Joel only had a few minutes of screentime so far (yes, I would be one of them XD).

Kai used to be a big shot in the German drug dealing business until a mistake ruined his career and he had to emigrate to the US. It took him several years to get onto his feet again, but now he's almost as big as back in his days in Germany. Despite various offers and threats, he refuses to take the side of one of the mafia groups, because quote, "it's clearly more profitable to be the slut of both", unquote. The only reason he can get away with this is that he is one of the best dealers in the city.
Joel Anderson

Joel is Will's younger brother and has been missing for four years. He used to be a good-hearted guy who despised violence and tried to stay out of trouble most of the time. All the stranger is it that all clues to his disappearance lead to the local mafia families. Did he get caught in the middle of a mafia war? Did he know something he shouldn't? His brother is determined to find out.
