This is a lovely read with minor twincest, and anyway, it's T.J. so you should read it either way.

Avengers movieverse, Tony, sometimes he thinks the world has no idea how relieved it should be that he flipped a coin that day and tails told him not to be a villain
There's a lot of fic out there of Tony pretending to be a villain, but in this one he actually is one - with all the best intentions, of course. Despite or maybe because this being a dark!AU, this fic is hauntingly in-character, because yes, I could totally see the reasoning in Tony's decision. Also, superb Loki-characterisation and a dash of Tony/Loki.

There's a reason Tony hates magic. And it's a good one. He's never been so glad for the fanfare his name has caused. Because it means the world knows him. Unlike this one.
Tony wakes up in a universe where he has never existed. What sounds like your typical fanfic-plot is actually really exciting and well written, a bit dark and fucked-up in some parts, and also highly addictive. The ending felt a little rushed, imho, but I still loved the hell out of this fic.

A role reversal fic featuring Steve Rogers (a.k.a Iron Man) as a billionaire, genius engineer with a heart of gold and Tony Stark (a.k.a Captain America) as a playboy American Hero who spent most of his backpay on his flashy lifestyle.
When I saw this fic mind just went "yesssssssssss". It reads wonderful and I love the tiny, but important differences, like how Tony used his role as Captain America to impress women. (Of course, he would.) And, just yes to everything.

What I’m saying is that superhero comics are not for girls, because they are sexist.
Read this. It's a great, well thought-out piece of meta about sexism in comics - although it's also a wistful declaration of love for a thing that doesn't love you back.
Also, I recently saw The Bournce Legacy and thought that Aaron Cross/Eric Byer would make a great ship, which made me look for fic, which then led me to Bourne/Avengers crossovers (because of reasons), which finally led me to Clint-fic.
( So, basically, this is just a bunch of fics about Jeremy Renner being awesome. )

Bucky wakes up. Tony takes a liking to him. Steve frowns a lot. Also, there is some Avenging going on. And tech porn.
This one starts out as Bucky/Tony (and oh god, I need more of them, they are perfect for each other in a wonderfully fucked-up, broken way), but then eventually develops into Steve/Bucky/Tony and. And. Guys. HOW DID I SURVIVE THIS LONG WITHOUT THIS OT3 IN MY LIFE?! It's, like, my three favourite Marvel babies all rolled into one ship and it's perfection. The fic gave me so many emotions, I cannot even. Plus, there is some glorious team action going on with lots of snarking between Tony, Clint, Bucky and Natasha.
And while I'm at it: some Bucky/Howard recs! (Yes, I've been stalking the Bucky related tags lately, how could you tell?)

Everyone should read this fanfic. EVERYONE. It will eat your brain though, which is kind of a morbid pun cosidering the fic's topic, but you get my meaning. Because, you should read this. It's beautiful and hurtful and dreamlike and oh, Tony, and Steve and it's a bit like a tragic fairy tale, only with fantastic Norse mythology and really, read it.
And just so no one will think that I'm only reading fanfic with the Steve Rogers/Tony Stark tag (as if I'd do that *coughs innocently*) or that I'm obsessed with this pairing (*blinks*), have some other fic which is equally awesome and hasno only little Steve/Tony in it. (Ha, there!)
My new favourite Avengers pairing (right after Steve/Tony, that is): Darcy Lewis/Clint Barton.
I know it sounds cracky, and it kind of is, but it's so perfect and they work so well together. Clint with his snarky attitude, but being awful at flirting and Darcy with all her sass and awesomeness and it's just <3. (Note to self: I need a Darcy icon.)

Civil War related recs
Feb. 11th, 2012 03:16 pmI love the fun and light-heartedness about the Avengers movieverse fics, mostly even prefer them, but comicverse fics, especially when they're about Civil War, always seem a little more grown-up, raw and serious. And I love that too, because, HEY, ANGST.
Admittedly, I'm still not through with even half of the Civil War comics, but I've got a fairly good idea of what happens through summaries and fanfic. And I WILL still read Civil War, because it's one big Steve/Tony angst fest. *sighs happily* (Oh my god, I ended up in comic fandom, however did THAT happen?!)

What were you like as a kid?” Eames asks him.
“Quiet,” Arthur says. “I lived in my head a lot. You?”
“I did too,” Eames replies. “Only I was never quiet about it.”
A story about growing up, sort of.
In which Calvin grows up to be Eames AND THIS MAKES SO MUCH MORE SENSE THAN IT SOUNDS LIKE, REALLY. It's such a clever idea and you can totally see the references to the comics and it just makes sense in a wonderful, wistful way.
Empires Of Wood by sazzafraz (Avengers/Inception fusion) [Tony/Steve]
In which nothing is as it seems, being awake is not the same as not dreaming and Tony Stark cannot catch a freaking break. Inception fusion. Sort of. Mostly just takes a few ideas and runs with it.
I haven't recced this yet, have I? Because this is awesome. It's still a WIP so be warned - there are mean cliffhangers, but it reads so terrifically Inception-esque and I just love it.

3. I cannot get over the fact how incredibly amazing Tony Stark is as a character and how much Steve/Tony has devoured my brain, heart and fandom attention. You can literally go through my checklist of characterization kinks and make crosses leik whoa. (If you know me and my favourite characters, you'll know what I mean.) Plus, there's a nice collection of fic recs at the end.

The Avengers do a sexy calendar for charity - Steve is too sexy for his own good. This. This is pure crack, but the good kind. It's hilarity turned into fanfic and crowned with awesome. Especially Thor brings SO MUCH comic relief with his comments - one of them almost had me sporfling aloud at work (yes, still reading fic at work, I'm a bad girl).
'Thor looked up. "No, I am proud to say I am becoming more and more well-versed in Midgardian arts of communication, such as the face of the book and the noise of the crowd," he said.'

These are a series of snapshots about Tony and Steve - not very plot-heavy but an entertaining fun read.

Some Loki/Thor and mostly Iron Man/Captain America, because those two ate my brain and I want to marry Tony Stark just so I can have his glorious snark in my life forever. Some of the recs are from my flist - sorry, if you've already seen them somewhere else before. Also: holyfuckingshit that Avengers trailer! *whimpers* If I didn't already ship Tony/Steve, I would've lost my brain after their banter.

(And why has no one ever told me how practical and great podfic is? I feel like the last person on earth to discover this, but it's like reading fanfic - while being able to do other stuff at the same time! :D)

Jan. 20th, 2011 11:21 pm+ I have now written about 45 pages for my bachelor thesis in about two months. This is quite good by my standards.
- I have now to write another 35 pages in half the time. This is, by my standards and with work and moving, not so good.
+ My bookshelves for the new apartment have arrived and they are things of beauty. Or, well, your average Ikea BILLY-shelves, but I see them for what they will be: a 2 metre-wall of books, mangas and DVDs which is pretty fucking exciting. :D
- Still no news about the rest of my furniture.

My recs for Yuletide 2010, featuring following fandoms:
Football RPS, A-Team (2010), Jennfer's Body, Legion, Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell, Despicable Me, Fallout 3, Little Red Riding Hood and A Knight's Tale.
I especially loved Down a Dark Desert Highway, because A. I am badly crushing on the A Knight's Tale fandom (Geoffrey Chaucer! And so little fic!) and B. it has this wonderful, strange Inception!Limbo-esque Sartre-thingy mood going on.
- I have now to write another 35 pages in half the time. This is, by my standards and with work and moving, not so good.
