The Paradox of Liking Women, Liking Superhero Comics
What I’m saying is that superhero comics are not for girls, because they are sexist.
Read this. It's a great, well thought-out piece of meta about sexism in comics - although it's also a wistful declaration of love for a thing that doesn't love you back.
Also, I recently saw The Bournce Legacy and thought that Aaron Cross/Eric Byer would make a great ship, which made me look for fic, which then led me to Bourne/Avengers crossovers (because of reasons), which finally led me to Clint-fic.
Careless Gods by Goethicite
Aaron Cross from a thousand feet up.
Aaron has unrequited feelings for Byer. I love the depiction of their relationship in this, because it's as problematic and troubled as I think it would be.

At first there is Aaron Cross. In the end there is Clint Barton. This is the story of in between.
How Aaron came to be Clint Barton. I love it, it's perfect.
origin/outcome (series) by donutsandcoffee
In which Clint Barton is Phil Coulson's and Aaron Cross is Eric Byer's.
The problem just starts when they're kind of the same person.
(or, the one where Clint Barton shatters into a million of different pieces when Phil Coulson dies, and Eric Byer just happens to be there to pick up the pieces.)
Another Aaron=Clint-fic, but this time, it's Clint who was there first. I loved this fic to bits and pieces, because it managed to intertwine both canons and made it work. Also, Aaron's and Eric's relationship is just so sdfsldfjlsdjflsja.

In which Clint and Natasha play guardian angels in Manila, Phil lets them go, and Aaron may end up the wiser for it.
Clint and Aaron are twin brothers and Clint sometimes still helps his brother out. Loved the idea, loved the execution.
I wonder how the world sees us by donutsandcoffee
This is how everyone else will see it:
Clint and Tony don’t so much happen as other people don’t happen.
(Or, Clint and Tony, as friends, as best friends, as warriors, as lovers-- and, most importantly, as themselves, even in the eyes of others.)
Clint and Tony! Why have I never read anything about them before? They're perfect in this fic, both a mess of insecurities and snark, but looking out for each other and respecting each other and MWAH. Also, Galaga Guy. <3
