Tess is the name, writing's the game.
Jan. 20th, 2011 11:21 pm+ I have now written about 45 pages for my bachelor thesis in about two months. This is quite good by my standards.
- I have now to write another 35 pages in half the time. This is, by my standards and with work and moving, not so good.
+ My bookshelves for the new apartment have arrived and they are things of beauty. Or, well, your average Ikea BILLY-shelves, but I see them for what they will be: a 2 metre-wall of books, mangas and DVDs which is pretty fucking exciting. :D
- Still no news about the rest of my furniture.
Also:
My recs for Yuletide 2010, featuring following fandoms:
Football RPS, A-Team (2010), Jennfer's Body, Legion, Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell, Despicable Me, Fallout 3, Little Red Riding Hood and A Knight's Tale.
I especially loved Down a Dark Desert Highway, because A. I am badly crushing on the A Knight's Tale fandom (Geoffrey Chaucer! And so little fic!) and B. it has this wonderful, strange Inception!Limbo-esque Sartre-thingy mood going on.

There is fic for Robot Unicorn Attack. Oh Yuletide, never change. *dives into the 2010 fics and wastes away her leftover weekend*
Yuletide Recs!
Jan. 12th, 2010 12:29 amSo, it's that time of year again and here are my Yuletide Recs. ;) I have read quite a bit more than the ones below and I plan to read even more, but these are the fics that especially stuck out for me. Hopefully some of you will find something interesting among them; I fear these are all very obscure and unknown fandoms on my flist. :/ Maybe I should do a second rec post, when I've read something more popular ...
The Recs
Featuring:
The Book Thief - The Guild - Fanboys - Dragon Age: Origins - Calvin & Hobbes - Glee - Skip Beat! - Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell

Then, why can't you just stop breathing?
Sep. 7th, 2009 10:14 pmAs a child, Connor's vague impressions of The Desert had been those sweeping, sprawling dunes in exotic travelogues: perfect golden oceans of sand stretching toward infinite sapphire skies, shimmering, pristine, crossed by saints and seekers on the secret roads to myth. It turns out Nevada's dry, hazy, scrub-ridden expanse of cracking mud is nothing at all like those photographs, but Connor has spent the past sixteen hours unlearning his geographic ideals one by one, until all the world could be one dead yellow horizon between the fat splatter of insects. There is nothing beautiful or illuminating about it. (Negative Space, by eris)
I love descriptions of the desert. Not because I think it's beautful. It's not. It's hot, raw, dusty and excruciating. And that's exactly what intrigues me ... the heat beating down on you until you're numb in body and mind, when everything's just a blurry haze, an almost meditative state of mind that resembles a daydream. When everything's so fucked up around you, when there's nothing but dust and burning heat.
It's that kind of image I get in my mind that made me love Jarhead - both the movie and the book -, that makes the Black Hawk Down OST still one of my most favourite soundtracks ever and that makes me feel enchanted by fics that play in the desert.[/rambling]
Besides, this fic is one of the most brilliant things I have read in a while.

Mar. 17th, 2009 09:39 pmA drawn J2 version of Freaky Friday
I just stumbled over this and thought it's fantastic. The idea is funny and the artwork is absolutely gorgeous (I love that punk!Jensen). *__*
Lives by Breaking, by Lady Sarai
"The heart lives by breaking;" 8 ways Narnia can break a heart.
A Narnia-fic I've been meaning to rec for ages. About the cruelty of leaving home behind and then being thrown back into it again. Bittersweet, wonderful and so spot-on.
Does It Offend You, Yeah? - We Are Rockstars (youtube-link)
Newly discovered music, thanks to the new Fast & Furious 4 trailer. Usually not my type of movie (I haven't seen any part of the series), but the song got really stuck in my head. And it's not the Hiphop-ish kind of song I expected, but very Electronic - Daft Punk would be a good comparison - and so, so good. And isn't the band name just cool?

The wrestling match could, perhaps, be described as 'epic'. More realistically, it could be described as 'awkward', 'flailing', and 'vaguely homoerotic'. Of course, that last covered most wrestling matches, and thus probably didn't need to be pointed out.
From So Much to Learn, a High School Musical RPF fic from Yuletide.

Dec. 28th, 2008 09:31 pmI actually found the time to read a little bit of ficcage over the past few days, so I thought I'd make a rec-post. I know I haven't been posting a lot of interesting stuff lately - or even regularly, at that. So, yeah ... trying to make up for that. ^^
