While I absolutely adore the fact that we're roleplaying the Kingmaker campaign again, I absolutely resent the fact that this time, we're doing it with a group full of bragging smartasses, who - instead of helping you out - make you feel lousy and inadequate for not knowing things about etiquette among nobility or - something which will become important later on - medieval warfare.

And the thing is - the thing is: I hate it when people patronize me and try to make me feel dumb. The thing is also that I'd rather say nothing at all than risking stupid comments. But since I love this RPG campaign so much and need to play an active role in it, I need the background knowledge.

I'm already hunting down Wikipedia articles and stuff, but, y'know, since I have a lot of history buffs on my flist I thought I might ask: do you know good resources (links, books, anything) about said topics (etiquette, warfare), hopefully something that's easy enough ~~for dummies~~ and stays on the practical side of things (I'm not looking for strategical Sun Tsu like stuff, I need concrete information like which unit has which task/strength and is best used at which moment, etc.)?

I'll take pretty much anything, as long as it has buckets of Tony!angst without actually being wangsty. Alternately, Bucky would be great, too. Also Steve. In any combination.

I've read: Iron Man Noir, Civil War, Civil War: Iron Man, the chapter with Cap's funeral, House of M and Secret Wars (yes, the old one from the 80ies, lol). Preferably something Steve and/or Tony and/or Avengers centric, possibly even Spiderman. Also please some finished arc that you can buy in one book? And it would be even more awesome, if you don't need tons of background knowledge to understand what's going on? ~~Yeah, not a lot of conditions at all.~~

A friend of mine has to write an essay about gender studies and she chose Brokeback Mountain for her analysing. I said I'd help her out, remembering all the entries with meta and thoughts that came up around that time when BBM was released. I'm pretty sure I've read loads of meta, it's just ... I don't seem to be able to find it anymore. :/

Do you know any posts or other links that could contain some good meta, preferably about the characters of Ennis, Jack, Alma and Lureen? *puppy eyes*

If Germany wins tonight, I'll drag out that old, unfinished Jentzelder fic that's been resting on my harddrive for over a year and will finish it. (After my exams are over.) CALL THAT A PROMISE.

And on a complete other note: I'd declare anyone as my new personal hero who would be willing to create a "Moulin Rouge" desktop wallpaper for me. *puppydog eyes* It seems absolutely impossible to find one fitting for my screen resolution on the internet and I don't feel creative enough for making one myself. :(

ETA: I'm gonna watch the match with the self-titled antichrist of football. You know, the one who causes Germany to loose when he watches them play. Omg. Let's just hope he keeps his bad luck to himself for just that one night.

So. I'm looking for fic. For a very special kind of fic of which I'm not even sure if it exists.

After having watched the "Roadkill" episode, I have some sort of weird fic idea swimming around in my head. Especially with having certain dialogue lines of "In my time of dying" still in the back of my mind which go as follows:

So. So. Is there AU fic that actually take on that set-up? Dean choosing to stay in the mortal world as a spirit (under the premise of John not ( yadda yadda spoiler ), of course)? And maybe Sammy having to hunt him/trying to bring Dean at rest? Or maybe some other set-up in which one of the Winchester brothers has become a restless spirit?

Because, damn, I'm itching to read something like that. And call me lazy or something, but I don't want to look through all those SPN fics out there in the hopes of maybe finding something.

I'm aware that the "HP and Deathly Hallows" is going to be out in a few hours and it pains me that I won't be able to buy it immediately. Exams are still up and I can't afford the time to read it. So, uhm. All of you on my flist who intend to read the book and write about it in their journals... I'd be eternally grateful, if you keep all the spoilers under a cut. At least until next Thursday, 'cause that's when my exams will be finally oooover. Thanks in advance. ^^

(Oh, and while you're at it: mind crossing your fingers for me tomorrow morning? I'm going to write Media Design and Filmanalysis and I'm anxious like whoa, because that's an exam I'd rather not fuck up.)

ETA: *staggers in and collapes into a lifeless heap* It's ooooover. Finally. And I think I've passed. There might be a chance that I haven't, but I refuse to think about that now, because then I might start crying. Or go berserk. Or both. BUT. No. I don't ~~hope~~ think so.
Moreover, I threw all sensible thoughts into the wind and got myself a copy of "The Deathly Hallows" first thing after the exam. Yeah, shoot me. I have a weak mind. *grins*

Oh, I feel so exhausted. I have been physically and emotionally tense for at least 42 hours and now it seems like there's nothing left to keep me upstanding. *needs something to eat and will then go cheering for the KSC to beat Schlacke*

OK, so I get to know today that we have to design/create a poster dealing with the topic "addiction".

Well, fine. The news isn't entirely new, since we did know that we would have to do this sometime soon in this semester... but not THAT soon. We need to hand in our designs by the end of next week which means that we only have ten days left to find ideas, create a concept and actually design the whole thing with Photoshop. We won't get marks for it, but it's stress and quite a piece of work, nonetheless.

(Thanks, Mister L., really. Instead of rambling about your views of the world and doing nothing useful at all in your classes, you could at least have the decency to inform us that we get to do everything on our own and should have started with it, like, three weeks ago.)

So here's where I have a big favour to ask of you people on my flist.

I'm not so worried about the whole Photoshop-ing, but my mind is blank of any ideas for the poster. I don't expect you to give me concrete design/concept ideas (though I wouldn't be averse to it, of course *g*), but I'd be endlessly grateful for some impulses. A little collective brainstorming, to say so. Quotes, sayings, links, pictures, thoughts, ideas... Anything dealing with addiction (and not only the typical ones like cigarettes or alcohol, it could also be internet addiction, for example, or words that contain the German word "Sucht", like "Sehnsucht", "Magersucht", etc.).
