So here's the thing: I adore Caroline and she's basically my favourite character on the show. And then there's Tyler who I also want to squish everytime he's on screen and tell him everything's going to be okay (yet another douchey jock with a sensitive core, I see a pattern there). And then there's this recent amount of Caroline-Tyler-interaction that I loveloveLOVE.
What I do not like is how the show treats pretty much every male-female-interaction that lasts longer than an episode. You can put bets on it that the characters will start falling for each other and it's so obvious and - dear god, why the hell can't people just be friends? I mean, Jeremy has lost two girlfriends in maybe half a year and jumps from relationship to relationship. Really? Even Rose and Damon, who actually were friends, still couldn't go without hooking up. If they'd be at least consistent with it, then I had Damon/Alaric and Jeremy/Tyler as canon ships for quite a while.
So. I am crazy about Caroline and Tyler. But I think they work so much better as friends - and they need friends, especially Tyler - because they have so much in common and could help each other out. But I want to keep my insecure, sugarsweet Caroline/Matt-High-School-romance, dammit. *pouts* And I want Tyler in on the gang, just because it would be epic. :D
ETA concerning 2x13:
Seems I was a little quick with my judgement here and the show didn't go down that road except for one kiss. Both Tyler and Caroline still refer to each other asex-friends - yay. What's not so great is how Tyler is tending toward the wrong kind of people (bad werewolves - stay with the cool vampire kids, Tyler!) and I want to smack and hug him all at the same time. Also, hurting Caroline makes me go D: as quickly as happy Caroline makes me go :DDDDDDD. I just lover her.
