So I just went to watch Rush and I have to say: that was surprisingly entertaining. No, I mean, it was a really good movie. I was expecting this really dumb story, idek, but it was enganging and actually made me see the appeal of Formula 1 - which I never could (and probably never will in RL). Chris Hemsworth's naked backside and face in general didn't hurt either. (Let's just ignore the terrible hair and the cheesy clothes, it was the 70ies, after all.) Neither did Daniel Brühl who is a darling and did a fantastic job. Holy hell, the accident. The accident. And that scene where they cleaned his lungs made me cringe so hard.

I was engrossed in the races, especially since I have no clue about this sport and didn't even know how it would end. There was some great camera work in there, too, even if the music was a bit too much at times, too much drama, too much pathos. But then, I guess that's what happens when you give Hans Zimmer the job. Out of context, though, it's a really great score that I'll happily add into my vast collection of soundtracks.

The best thing about this was the relationship between the two rivals. Jesus, that was some tension. Not only in a very shippy sense, but really, really interesting, too. Because they weren't just two enemies who hated each other's guts - all of the time you could feel their respect for each other, how they really needed and complemented each other and that was wonderful.

Now, where's the fanfic?
