The Silver Pigs by Lindsey Davis

louphoenix. She's been gushing so much about that charming Roman detective that I clearly couldn't miss out on it and had to borrow the books from her. And she was right: he is awesome indeed. I still have book four on my to-read-shelf.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J.K. Rowling
I got this copy when I was fifteen and visiting our Philippine relatives. I had nothing to read, so my Mum bought me a bunch of books, including this one which was also my first English Harry Potter volume. One night, my cousins and I started debating about Harry Potter and its parallels to Nazi-Germany. That debate soon got out of control and turned into incompetent tries to explain Germany's political system and ended with my cousin proclaiming he's going to become German chancellor. Naturally, all seriousness had gone by then. XD That book will forever remind me of that night in the kitchen, the air still warm and sticky from the day, the dim kitchen light and all of us sitting around the table, discussing in awkward English.
