Doctor Who

Since I recently finished season 2 of new!Doctor Who, I figured I could dump some impressions in my journal while they're still fresh. For your information: I started watching Who with Eleven and then decided to work through the older episodes after season 6 ended (and omg, still so much time till season 7).
So, I don't know much about Who-fandom, but from what I've read on fandom secrets, I realised I'm having some Very Unpopular Opinions about the show.
1. I like all of the Doctors, but so far Eleven is my favourite, Nine is adorably goofy and Ten is nice, but whenever he's trying to be Doctor-ishly mad, he's not really funny but just comes across as really, really insane. Also, STOP DOING THOSE THINGS WITH YOUR MOUTH, IT'S UNSETTLING, SERIOUSLY. (And Matt Smith is still prettier.) Uhm. Please don't hurt me! *hides in a corner* I mean it, though: I like all of them, but Ten didn't quite convince me so far. Maybe it's just the actor, I don't know.
2. So, I, uh. Didn't get the whole Rose/Doctor romance either. I mean, the show told it well and their parting was pretty damn sad, but then I always only bought Rose's pain. The Doctor's just so ... asexual to me.
3. Rose was a nice companion, compassionate and headstrong, but sometimes also just really, very senseless. It's good there will be someone else next.
4. Mickey Smith: I really like him and I felt a little sorry for him most of the time, because he was such an underdog and got such a shitty treatment from Rose. But I'm glad he got to kick some ass in the end (and he's totally boyfriends with Jake Simmonds, y/y?)
5. I still find the Daleks very annoying and facepalm-inducing, but I learned to appreciate them in a loltastic kind of way. And they aresuperior to better than Cybermen. I mean, obviously:
Cyber Leader: Daleks, be warned. You have declared war upon the Cybermen.
Dalek Sec: This is not war - this is pest control!
Cyber Leader: We have five million Cybermen. How many are you?
Dalek Sec: Four.
Cyber Leader: You would destroy the Cybermen with four Daleks?
Dalek Sec: We would destroy the Cybermen with one Dalek! You superior in only one respect.
Cyber Leader: What is that?
Dalek Sec: You are better at dying. Raise communications barrier!
Heh. <3
6. Jack Harkness was fun and I'm totally going to watch Torchwood after finishing the rest of the seasons.
7. Apparently, I prefer Steven Moffat's writing out of all the others, because the few episodes he wrote in the in the past? Those were among the ones I enjoyed the most.
8. The more I watch older episodes, the more I long for Eleven and the newer episodes, because it just isn't quite the same.
The thing is, I fell in love with Doctor Who through Eleven. I learned to appreciate and love the themes of Doctor Who (e.g. Daleks, the crazytalk, the hilarious monsters, the shitty SFX) through Eleven, which made me appreciate the older episodes as well. But now I can also tell that it probably would never have happened had it not been for Matt Smith and Moffat's writing. (Seriously, I have watched episodes with Ten before I got into Doctor Who and I found them omg-what-is-this-craziness-I-don't-get-it.)
To me, Doctor Who is this magical, wonderful thing, a show that would probably have ruined my childhood had I known it back then. The Doctor is the impersonation of everything you dream ofeveryday as a kid: the one to take you away from it all and bring you adventures. But I only really felt the magic in season 5 + 6, I didn't love any characters the way I did with Eleven, Amy and Rory. I was never that moved, I never cried over Rose or Nine or Ten. At least I'm not alone in this, because J. totally agrees with me. So I guess Eleven is my Doctor, as they say, because (quote J.) "no other Doctor can look so terribly sad and no one says 'I'm the Doctor' quite as wonderful as he does. Also, he's got amazing hair. And Amy is the sexiest of them all." Well, I can't disagree. XD
9. Okay, just to throw in another theory why I prefer season 5 + 6: IT'S THE SOUNDTRACK. The soundtrack is soooooooooooooooooo much better and so fucking epic in the Eleven episodes.
*HEARTS*
Episodes I especially enjoyed:
Dalek, The Empty Child, The Doctor Dances ("Didn't look like talking" - "Didn't feel like dancing" XD), The Girl in the Fireplace, Tooth and Claw (because Werewolves), School Reunion (ANTHONY STEWART HEAD OMG WHY SO AWESOME AND SEXY), The Satan Pit (wow, that one was heavy and dark), Love & Monsters (I loved the way this one was told and how bitter it was, how it left all those touched by the Doctor with something amiss in their lives), Doomsday (:().
And now I feel sick from eating all the gummi bears. XD
