I'm having a lot of emotions about various Avengers related topics lately so I thought I'd finally write them down so maybe they won't come back to me all the time.

The Captain America March
This stupid piece of music gives me an inexplicable amout of heart-ache. Because it's this cheerful march that tells of victory and hope and maybe even parades, people cheering in the streets. However, what it makes me think of is the person representing this hope, the person who brought it back in the first place: a kid from Brooklyn that got lost in the ice forever while fighting the good fight. There are people mourning for him, looking for him, missing him. And I think: no, this is wrong, the end theme of a story with such an ending shouldn't be that hopeful or cheerful, it should be sad. But then, this is Steve all the way, isn't it? Hope and never giving up and faith that it somehow will be alright. And then I have all these bittersweet feelings about a stupid, stupid movie theme which isn't even that remarkable. GAH.

Pepper Potts
I recently read somewhere how someone complained about the depiction of Pepper Potts in the movies. How she's just this high-heels wearing, annoying chick and how Paltrow got her completely wrong. And that really upset me in a way. You see, I don't claim to know a bit about comic!Pepper, but I think I've gotten a fairly good impression of movie!Pepper and fanon!Pepper. Please correct me, if I'm wrong, but I don't think the two of them are that much different. Which makes me guess that she can't be all that off from comic!pepper either.

I really fucking hate it when people dismiss female characters, just because they don't kick ass, fire weapons or are, Heaven forbid!, too feminine. Don't get me wrong. I have a crazy amount of love for Peggy Carter and Natasha Romanov, but that doesn't mean I can't appreciate other kinds of female characters as well.

Just because you're gentle, doesn't mean you can't be strong, too. Pepper may not wave guns at her enemies, but she's smart, competent, efficient, loyal, sassy, brave and caring. She doesn't take any bullshit from anyone, not even Tony - and we all know how hard it is to keep him under control. But Pepper does that, and she does so much more. She goes back to Stark Industries and keeps cool while talking to Stane and securing all the evidence to bring him down. She knows how to pick her battles and because she knows that she's physically not strong enough, she keeps Phil Coulson close to her to get out of there. Because she's a business woman first and not all women can fight. Not all women need to. Pepper kicks ass because she's smart and has a strong will and yes, all of it IN HIGH-HEELS.

Illusions

Don't part with your illusions. When they are gone you may still exist, but you have ceased to live.
