It's sad that this scenario is actually reality for some people out there. Sometimes, I just want to grab them by their collar, shake them as hard as possible and scream into their faces what I really think.

Stop playing RPG whenever you meet. (Or at least play different RPGs from time to time!) There's more you could do than that and there's a real life out there. RPG is neither a reason, nor an excuse to stop taking care of it. RPG doesn't earn you any money, doesn't say anything about how great you are, how big your cock is or who loves you. It's a game, a hobby, fun. Not anybody's meaning of life. And if someone chooses to stop playing RPG, he is not a traitor in any way. If you are too lazy to have contact with someone beyond RPG sessions, then it's your fault.

Also, stop mixing in-play and off-play. If my character betrays and insults your character, I do not betray or insult you. If you know something of importance off-play, do not manipulate your in-play so you can profit from it.

Character =/= you.

Get it.  And - for fuck's sake - stop talking about RPG 24/7! That way you're excluding people who theoretically would love to talk with you, but just friggin' can't. Not like that.

(Apart from that, "The Gamers" is really, really funny and you should watch it, if you're into Pen & Paper. ;))


Before anyone asks: no, nothing in particular happened, these are just a lot of pent-up thoughts that wanted to get out. And in other news: I PASSED ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING. Yeah baby. *dork dance*

What probably annoys me the most about it, is that I've been there myself and know exactl what it's like. It's hard to get your ass up, if you have no reason and those people have not many. Some of them have hardly any success to produce, but instead of changing it they play RPG. And that just makes me angry and worried.

Also, for chrissake, it should be possible to talk about something different than RPG. It's not only alarming, it's impolite and annoying.

As a friend - 'kay. But I wouldn't call it obliged. Perhaps obliged to try to keep them from losing that grip. But not wholly responsible for the acting of this special person(s), I think...
