Tag 30 – Das Buch, das du zurzeit liest/The book you're currently reading
Biss zur Mittagsstunde/New Moon by Stephenie Meyer
Bella and Edward find themselves facing new obstacles, including a devastating separation, the mysterious appearance of dangerous wolves roaming the forest in Forks, a terrifying threat of revenge from a female vampire and a deliciously sinister encounter with Italy's reigning royal family of vampires, the Volturi.
I read Twilight out of curiosity and then asked a friend if she could also lend me New Moon. This was almost a year ago. I've already seen the New Moon movie by now so the book is mostly just very boring: blah blah, oh, this big hole in my chest like an oozing wound, blah blah, I hope Jacob doesn't die because then I would feel terrible, blah, blah ... It's not as headdesk-inducing as the first book, I have to admit, and sometimes quite nice. Probably because I like Jacob a lot better than Edward.
Flavia de Luce - Mord im Gurkenbeet/The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie (Flavia de Luce, #1) by Alan Bradley
In his wickedly brilliant first novel, Debut Dagger Award winner Alan Bradley introduces one of the most singular and engaging heroines in recent fiction: eleven-year-old Flavia de Luce, an aspiring chemist with a passion for poison. It is the summer of 1950—and a series of inexplicable events has struck Buckshaw, the decaying English mansion that Flavia’s family calls home. A dead bird is found on the doorstep, a postage stamp bizarrely pinned to its beak. Hours later, Flavia finds a man lying in the cucumber patch and watches him as he takes his dying breath. For Flavia, who is both appalled and delighted, life begins in earnest when murder comes to Buckshaw.
Usually I don't start a new book before I've finished the one I'm reading, but I was away for the weekend and needed something lighter than the New Moon hardcover to carry around in a bag. Hence, Flavia. I'm somewhere in the middle of the story and it's very entertaining so far. What can I say? I'm a sucker for detective stories. ^^
Tag 31 – Das Buch, das du als nächstes liest/lesen willst/The book you're going to read next
The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum
This is the complete and unabridged story in which Dorothy, together with her companions the Tin Woodman, the Scarecrow and the cowardly Lion, makes her journey along the Yellow Brick Road in search of the wonderful wizard.
After having watched the movie, read Wicked and watched the musical on Youtube I probably should read the book that started it all, right?
