I had a presentation about my bachelor thesis today or more like some sort of exhibition of all the theses that are being written this semester. The event constisted of creating a poster, standing in front of it and telling everyone (mostly professors or fellow students) what your topic is about. I had my table in the last room with 3 other students and hardly anyone came to listen to our babbling - which I'm glad for, but I stood there for 1,5 hours and now my feet hurt. Meh.
There are rumours about Heather Morris being casted as Buffy for the movie reboot. Huh. I am not quite sure whether I like this or not. I adore HeMo and the looks are fitting, but I don't know if she can deliver the Buffy-badassness. (Also, I would keep expecting Buffy to say ditzy Brittany-oneliners.) Can we have Katie Cassidy? She can pull off badass and snarky any day.
Speaking of vampires, I am terribly hooked on The Vampire Diaries. I started watching it, because, hey, it's about vampires and I cannot resist that. Then I kept watching because I was curious and mildly amused, and now I'm simply addicted and want to know how it goes on. It's not exactly an original show concerning plot, but it's entertaining. What it does, it does well and imho it's rather strong in the character dynamics/relationship department. I'm pretty much in love with every character in the show except the three main characters:
Stefan, oh dear, Stefan. Broody vampire cliché par excellence except for the few bright moments when he went crazy on human blood. Boring, unless combined with Damon.
Damon is a magnificent bastard, and I like him for it, but what I find most interesting about him is his fucked-up relationship to his brother (who would've guessed?^^) and vice versa.
Elena is a sweetheart, but her character seems oddly vague and fleeting, as if she's only there to give support to the other characters or to provide a ground for more plot. Or, in other words: a tiny weeny bit boring.
I do love these in combination, though, and I lovelovelove almost every other relationship on the show. I adore Jeremy and every bit of plot surrounding him; I really liked Anna and Pearl (meh!), Alaric and Damon teaming up and snarking fills my heart with happiness and Matt/Caroline makes me go all flaily. Oh, and as underwhelmed I am by Elena, as fascinated am I by Katherine. More of her, please! Other random TVD thoughts:
- Alaric Saltzman, why so pretty?
- TVD cast in general: why so damn pretty? It's kind of dazzling, actually.
- I really like Tyler Lockwood (and his handsome surfer uncle), but if he is a werewolf I'll scream CLICHÉ so loud you'll hear it overseas. Can't his family be some sort of Jeckyll & Hyde creatures? That would be cool. ETA: And they are werewolves. Of course. *sighs* At least they are classical wolves and not some humanoid form.
- Isabel was terribleterribleterrible. Not because I disliked her character, but because the actress was trying so hard to be edgy and badass.
- The episode where Caroline gets turned into a vampire is brilliantly done. The emotions, fear and confusion come off so well; it was one of the few times where you could really get the horror of the transformation and character's realisation of what's happening to her. But then, Caroline is a bit of my favourite anyway. XD Another ETA: Can I just add that I adore mentor!Stefan together with Caroline? It's so freaking adorable, with Stefan being all understanding and Caroline cracking Stefan's stoic shell.

No, I haven't. Have you? I was thinking about starting to read them, but I don't know if they are as good as the show.
