I will hand in my thesis tomorrow. It's printed out, everything's done and ready and now I only need to wait. Apart from that, I think I'm falling into a bit of a post-bachelor-hole, because I'm just really, really tired and not happy at all. I just want to sleep and forget all about it. Oh, but that might be because I still have to present my thesis in front of an undefined number of co-workers, because my teamleader wants to torture me said so. No, he's actually quite nice, but this is a thing that will keep me in a state of panic anxiety and do-not-want until it's over. Until then, I won't be able to truly relax or feel relieved. Bugger.

What I did do to spoil myself a little and get into a better mood: going on a huge Amazon-shopping spree.

Destined for an early Grave is actually a Tauschticket order, but it arrived on the same day, so. And the Eagle of the Ninth chronicles, because they are clearly the in-thing to read for slash-fans at the moment and I am so fucking excited for the movie you have no idea. Ahem. ;)

I had a presentation about my bachelor thesis today or more like some sort of exhibition of all the theses that are being written this semester. The event constisted of creating a poster, standing in front of it and telling everyone (mostly professors or fellow students) what your topic is about. I had my table in the last room with 3 other students and hardly anyone came to listen to our babbling - which I'm glad for, but I stood there for 1,5 hours and now my feet hurt. Meh.

+ I have now written about 45 pages for my bachelor thesis in about two months. This is quite good by my standards.
- I have now to write another 35 pages in half the time. This is, by my standards and with work and moving, not so good.

+ My bookshelves for the new apartment have arrived and they are things of beauty. Or, well, your average Ikea BILLY-shelves, but I see them for what they will be: a 2 metre-wall of books, mangas and DVDs which is pretty fucking exciting. :D
- Still no news about the rest of my furniture.

Also:
My recs for Yuletide 2010, featuring following fandoms:
Football RPS, A-Team (2010), Jennfer's Body, Legion, Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell, Despicable Me, Fallout 3, Little Red Riding Hood and A Knight's Tale.
I especially loved Down a Dark Desert Highway, because A. I am badly crushing on the A Knight's Tale fandom (Geoffrey Chaucer! And so little fic!) and B. it has this wonderful, strange Inception!Limbo-esque Sartre-thingy mood going on.
ayascythe: Pink Reaper (HP ~ Invincible)
My current emotional status: impatient. Monday, ergo: HP 7.1, can't come fast enough. Also slightly anxious and chaotic. My mind is all over the place, because there are various things and projects I'm involved in and then there's the bachelor thesis.

3319 / 15000 words. 22% done!

My current NaNo-status. I don't think I'm going to make the full amount I set myself as a goal, but maybe two thirds. Which is okay, I guess? *sighs* At least I have some social media literature now.

My current fandom-status: I saw Glee (this morning, stuffed into the time between getting up and going to work, because I don't have the time otherwise), yes, but I don't have much to say about it either way. I'm not a big fan of Gwyneth Paltrow, because I think she's a boring actress, but she was alright. I just wished the kids had sung more and not just her and Mr. Shue.

... I'm sorry this journal has become even more uninteresting than before. I'll try to cut down the whining, but I guess I need a place where I can post my progress.

My NaNo/bachelor-count so far:

2868 / 15000 words. 19% done!

Which is far less than I should have at his point, but I lack decent literature and even more decent time to actually write. :(

Yoko Kanno is a musical genius. 'Nuff said.

Each time I watch the Deathly Hallows trailer I get those goddamn goosebumps and the picture of burning!Hogwarts tugs at my heartstrings. It's ridiculous. The movie's probably not even that good, but just the fact that it's out in a few weeks makes me go "Gah!", because it'll be one of the last big events in the HP fandom. Before, you could always say "there'll still be the movies", but now? *sighs* Oh HP fandom, why am I so overly attached to you?

*

It's November and that means autumn pre-Christmas time lots of tea and dreamy times with fantasy books NaNoWriMo! I started writing a chapter for my bachelor thesis this week and am already behind my actual schedule, because I find so little time to write during work. Also, I'm only writing crap. Meh.

860 / 15000 words. 6% done!
(This is only the estimated word count for this month, I'll probably need just as much for the second half.)

Which reminds me ... *tries to write a few more paragraphs*

I'm worming my way through already existing bachelor theses and I think "Economic factor Bundesliga - Growing commercialisation of football, especially in light of sponsoring" might be my favourite so far. Although gender marketing sounds very interesting, too. How come there are so many interesting topics in media science I have never come across in my studies? - Wait, forget that I asked.

Now I only need to find a topic that hasn't been done to death already.
ayascythe: Pink Reaper (Fight Club ~ Destroy something beautiful)
For the first time in my life, I've understood why Photoshop always asks me if I want Interlacing when saving pictures as PNG. Consider myself boggled. (Sorry, it's just always kind of wtf when the boring, stupid, shitty stuff you have to learn proves to be somewhat related to reality and useful in daily use.)

Third of four exams over and done. I'll have a little breather of one and a half week until the last one, with Japanese somewhere inbetween (but I'm not counting that one). I'm officially braindead for the rest of the week. That's the perfect state to get drunk and let off steam while watching football tonight, y/y? *is already killing the rest of her brain with listening to High School Musical*

A Frenchman, an Italian, an Englishman and an Argentinean meet up at the airport.

YES PLEASE. Me and my stomach have been a mess since this morning. The suspense is killing me. For the love of everything holy and shiny, let Paul be wrong. *crosses fingers and runs off*

The knots in my brain have knots themselves. I cannot think anymore, but I should still do at least a little bit of learning today. Someone kick me in the arse, pls? And, completely unrelated, I have a crazy urge to slash Lukas Podolski lately. Yeah, I don't even know. For some reason, I've grown incredibly fond of him during this WC. I think it's the puppy look. It makes me want to make him angst like there's no tomorrow.

I can't believe I freak out over a psychic sea-creature, but I was already nervous before and now I'm anxious.

Might also have to do with the stupid exam in a few hours (Broadcasting) THAT MAKES ME FREAK THE FUCK OUT because it's so unpredictable and I feel like I don't know enough or only the parts that won't be questioned.

AAAAAAAAAAARGH. When will this week end already?
ayascythe: Pink Reaper (Paul Bettany ~ Omgyeah)
Ahahaha, I have a 1,0 in French. *wiggles* OK, it wasn't that hard, but still. It's a nice push in motivation. And there's one exam off the list, still 4 more to go.

Tag 05 – Ein Buch, das du immer und immer wieder lesen könntest / A book you you could read again and again

The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

On one level this work is the story of an airman's discovery of a small boy from another planet in the desert and his stories of intergalactic travel, and on the other hand it is a thought-provoking allegory of the human condition.

To avoid answering half of the questions of this meme with "Harry Potter" (because I totally could and it wouldn't be a lie), I picked "The Little Prince". I discovered this book for myself only two years ago, because I finally wanted to know what this was all about. I adored it. And with every read, I adore it a little bit more. It's the kind of book I never get fed up with and that still makes me teary-eyed on certain scenes. A simple and short, but truly beautiful read.

"Goodbye, said the fox. "And now here is my secret, a very simple secret.
It is only with the heart that one can see rightly. What is essential is invisible to the eye."

  • Holy fucking shit Germany. 4-0? 4-0?!?! Just ... wow. And that was some beautiful football there, my dear Mannschaft. If you hadn't already convinced me, this would've been the match to do so. I'm still so fucking nervous about the Spain match, though, I don't even know.
  • This post on [livejournal.com profile] ontd_football is full of awesome sports/football commercials, including one taking place in the Star Wars Cantina and the infamous Nutella spots. Lol.
  • Tomorrow is my first exam. My head is aching leik whoa and throbs everytime I sneeze. It's still pollen time >>> I sneeze a lot. Also, it's that time of the month again. In conclusion: *whiiiiines*

I had my French oral examination today. It went pretty well, despite me being rather hectic and confused at times. Now that it's over, I'm really going to miss this lecture. It was fun, relaxed and everyone was nice and got along. Hopefully the advanced French course will come to pass this summer. *crosses fingers*

Damn, this is why I hate penalty shoot-outs. :((( And I feel so sorry for Komano. Wouldn't want to be in his skin tonight.

And somewhat related: my Japanese exam should be interesting. Interesting as: in ridiculously fail-y and bad. We had a test exam today and everyone knew almost nothing. XD Oh well, after the first three horror exams are over, I'll have some time to look over the grammar. Broadcasting Technics, however, is driving me nuts and anxious. The scripts and materials are a mess and I don't even know what to expect ... Argh.

Dear Professor R.,

I always thought you were one of the nice guys. A bit nerdy and challenging, but, you know, fair. Not evil. So thanks for fucking us over and bringing up questions that were completely different in content and difficulty from the last four semesters. I would expect something like that from S. (like he did with Java), but you?
What makes it even worse is that I felt really okay with the stuff I had learned, but you managed to pick out those few topics no one would know, learn or understand. Thank you. I'll be thinking of you, when I hold my Bachelor certificate in my hands and look at that one epic fail of grade I'll get in your subject.

No love,

Me

It's way too early and I know I'm supposed to be on hiatus, but I have to wait till nine o'clock until the lecture starts / the lecture has started now, but it's so frustratingly boring.
So let me just drop a few quotes of a chapter that quite made my morning. Short info: the book is a prequel to the Dragon Age game and tells the story of King Maric, his outlaw friend Loghain and Rowan (to whom Maric is betrothed). Together with their rebel army, they try to free Ferelden of the Orlesian reign. The book is not an epiphany considering narration or style, but it's good in a solid way. And it's a great way to get to know the characters a bit more. (To think that I really, really hated Loghain before I started the book, and now he's one of my favourite characters in the DAO universe ...)

(b)romance ahead <3 )

Dawwww.<3 Consider this shipped and slashed. XD

KSC, you suck, but oh, why do I even bother? Because I don't. *rolls eyes*

I am highly demotivated to do anything for our Uni project. The documentation has to be finished around Monday or Tuesday, after that there's the presentation on Thursday (in a probably full lecture hall *is so gonna die*). Luckily, most of the writing is already done, just some final additions to make and such ... but this is exactly what I'm not in the mood for right now. And then there's all the learning I really need to start with ... Blerch.

And just because I lovelovelove Sten and need to have him constantly in my Dragon Age party from now on:
Alistair: Don't you ever talk? You know, make polite conversation just to put people at ease?
Sten: You mean that I should remark upon the weather before I cut off a man's head?
Alistair: ... Nevermind.

(I am well aware that this post is entirely random and unnecessary.)
ayascythe: Pink Reaper (DAO ~ Alistair ~ A brave new World)
I have teh Internetz again. Yay! (Honestly, Telekom ... a stronghold of chaos and incompetence.)

Soooo, what's new? I just realised how freaking much I actually still have to do, especially since next week there will be a Big Important Presentation and then, in only a few weeks, examinations! *freaks out* How did that happen? Again? Why am I always surprised at how little time there's actually left? *rolls eyes* Anyhow, I really need to get working from now on.

Oh, and anyone interested in some pictures of the KSC doing training in Belek? There are some nice pics in this gallery, although no interesting shots of anyone in particular. Meh.

Also, since I had no internet and obviously wasn't working much - with what did I waste my entire time? Well, first of all, I finished Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norell, which was awesome. I still think the pacing and entire chapters dedicated to unimportant side-characters were pretty exasperating, but the witty, charming and so very British writing made up a lot for it. Also, the great story that came to a wonderful ending. I won't say much about it, but if you bring some patience, a lot of time and a pot of hot tea with you, the book will make it worthwhile.

And then there was Dragon Age: Origins. A lot of rambling and swooning, in which Tess goes a little crazy over a game and admits that she cried like a baby because of it. )

Also, this is totally my new favourite song: This is war, 30 Seconds to Mars, the ending song to Dragon Age.
